Inverness and Beyond

The train ride was not too comfortable.  Opened windows or no, the carriages were hot.

Here is Derek enjoying a hot coke while the countryside rolls past outside.  But eventually, we reached Inverness, where we picked up a manual Hyundai i30 to tide us over until we can find another premium car to take us the rest of the way.

Driving north from Inverness, we set our sights on Mid Clyth.  We were supposed to come to Mid Clyth from the north, as we looped through the north coast of Scotland.  Instead, we bypassed all of that and instead saw random little villages on the north eastern coast.

At our BnB we were met by a cautiously friendly sheepdog, whose daddy explained that she doesn't like sheep and so looks after the horses instead.

The house was very nice indeed, inside and out, standing by itself, as do most of the houses in this area,

I went out to take a photo of the nearest neighbor, and noted that a mist had rolled in.  A chill had also rolled in, so I didn't stay out for long.

Having missed the north coast of Scotland, and with our BnB for tomorrow night set for Aberdeen, our host discussed various possible options.  So, tomorrow we leave early, and head north, to John O' Groats, and points west, until we turn south again, to pass back through Inverness, peek at Loch Ness, and make a run for Aberdeen.

That will allow us to see some of the north coast the loss of the Jaguar made us miss today, and have us back on schedule by tomorrow night.  But it will be a long haul in the car, so I'm off to bed early!

If this evening is anything to judge by, seeing as we're going north a bit more, tomorrow is looking like a long-trousers day!
