Trouble in Paradise

We set off later than usual, because we new we had the whole day to spend in Skye.  So off we went, northwards.  Our first point of aim was the Fairy Glen above Uig.  As we approached Uig, looking for the turn to the Fairy Glen...

...I noticed land out across the water.  Could it be the Outer Hebrides?  Surely not?

After a short delay, courtesy a small flock of sheep...

We finally got to the Fairy Glen.  There were some unusual hillocks, but just our luck, there was a film crew of some sort working there, and it didn't seem like we would get too many good shots, because their actress (with the nice trousers) seemed to be everywhere we wanted to photograph, and where she wasn't, the crew of about 15 people were.

So on we went, and yes, it seems it was the Outer Hebrides out there!  I am glad, because I had wanted to see them, but didn't think it would be possible.

We went a little further north, and just as we were turning east for the return, we saw them the best.

Then to Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls, where we were greeted by a skirling piper.

Here is Kilt Rock,

And here is Mealt Falls.

Shortly after this is when trouble started to brew.  An indecipherable warning message appeared on the instrument panel of the Jag.  It seemed to indicate contaminated diesel fuel in the car.  The car seemed to be running normally, so we decided to continue on our southerly journey, to get as close to the garage near our BnB as possible before something packed up.

So, continuing south, with one eye out for the Old Man of Storr.  This ancient stone is supposedly is a symbol of male phallic endurance or some such thing.

And here he is:

We went a bit further and there was a much better view of him.  A view being enjoyed by about 500 oriental tourists.  So we took a photo or two,

and also one of these hills/mountains to our south:

We got back to the garage, and reading the handbook concluded we needed to fill up the "Diesel Exhaust Fluid" tank, which I knew nothing about.  So, we poured in some DEF fluid we bought at the garage, and... the vehicle wouldn't start.

We called the rental agency, who sent out a recovery vehicle.  The people at their workshop said that filling the DEF tank should reset the warning and get the vehicle working again, but we couldn't get it going, and neither could they.

The car is with them now, and they seemed to think that disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes would reset the computer, so they disconnected the battery, and dropped us back at our BnB.  They said they would call one hour later, but that was 2½ hours ago.

So, we are stuck with no car, and a  287 mile drive scheduled for tomorrow morning, to get us to our BnB booking for tomorrow night.  And it's a Friday!
